  • When asked at dinner why love was like a potato. Byron’s answer was, “Because it becomes less by pairing.”
  • When told that Byron’s friend, Lady Caroline Lamb, had knocked down a page in a fit of passion, Moore remarked, “Nothing is more natural than for a literary lady to double down a page.”
