QUOTATION: Let us develop the resources of our land, call forth its powers, build up its institutions, promote all its great interests, and see whether we also, in our day and generation, may not perform something worthy to be remembered.
ATTRIBUTION: Representative DANIEL WEBSTER, address at the laying of the cornerstone of the Bunker Hill Monument, Charlestown, Massachusetts, June 17, 1825.—The Writings and Speeches of Daniel Webster, vol. 1, p. 254 (1903).
