Nathaniel Judson Burton (1822–1887)
Burton, Nathaniel J. An American Congregational clergyman and writer; born at Trumbull, CT, Dec. 17, 1822; died at Hartford, CT, Oct. 13, 1887. He graduated in 1857 from Wesleyan College, Middletown, CT, and from the Yale Divinity School in 1854. Translated ‘Sacred History from the French of J. N. Loriquet’ (1872); and wrote ‘Yale Lectures on Preaching and Other Writings,’ edited by Richard E. Burton, his son.
