Just Jean Étienne Roy (1794–1871?)

Roy, Just Jean Étienne (rwä). A French littérateur; born at Marnay (Haute-Saône), Oct. 13, 1794; died at Pontleroy, June 22, 1871?. He published, under his own name and the pseudonyms of “Étienne Gervais,” “Just Girard,” and “Théodore Menard,” a number of books, including the series entitled ‘History of Fénelon’ (1838); ‘History of Louis XI.’ (1842); ‘Illustrations of the History of Germany, England, Egypt, Spain, France, Italy, Russia, and Sweden’ (1843–45); ‘History of Louis XIV.’ (1844); ‘France of the Twelfth Century’ (1850); ‘Modern Algiers’ (1855); ‘The Empire of Brazil’ (1858); ‘History of England’ (1863); and many others.
