Franz Graf von Pocci (1807–1876)
Pocci, Franz, Count von (pot’chē). A German poet, musician, and designer; born at Munich, March 7, 1807; died there, May 7, 1876. Besides several light musical dramas he wrote an opera, ‘The Alchemist,’ and a number of songs and sonatas; a volume of ‘Poems’ (1843); ‘Hunting Songs’ (1843); ‘Student Songs’; several books for children, admirable alike for literary form and artistic illustration,—e.g., ‘The Little Rose Garden,’ a prayer-book (3d ed. 1868); ‘A Little Book of Proverbs.’
