Adolf Dux (1822–1881)
Dux, Adolf (döx). A Hungaro-German poet (1822–81); born at Poszony (Presburg). He made admirable versions of Hungarian poems and novels into German, including those of Katona, Arany, Jókai, Gyulai, and Eötvös. He was the first to translate Petőfi’s Select Poems. His own works comprise novels and studies in literary history.
