Jules Pautet (17991870)
Pautet, Jules (pō-tā’). A French publicist and poet; born at Beaune, 1799; died in 1870. Among his writings are: ‘Evening Songs’ (1838); ‘Abdul Medjid,’ a lyric chant (1840); ‘Ernest, or the Savoyard Vicar’s Confession of Faith’ (1858); ‘The Pope, Austria, and Italy’ (1859); ‘Vercingetorix and Cæsar,’ a poem (1865).
