Planning is the process of setting goals and creating a plan for meeting those goals. The benefits of planning as seen by the research evidence is firstly, it provides a team with a direction for future actions. For example, in my team we did not have a direction on how to proceed thorough each stage, if it was better to move up or down, which made our team members losing interest. Furthermore, planning helps when there is a problem, because if we had a plan we can proactively address problems and their impact on the project or goal is reduced. For instance, a problem in our Everest simulation was when of our team members health was critical or if someone wanted to complete an individual goal, we spent a lot of time discussing on what to do

Leadership is a facet of management. It is just one of the many assets a successful manager must possess. The main aim of a manager is to maximize the output of the organization through administrative implementation. To achieve this managers must undertake the four functions of management: planning, organization, leading and controlling. In some cases leadership is just one important component of the leading function. Predpall (1994) said, "Leaders must let vision, strategies, goals, and values be the guide-post for action and behavior rather than attempting to control others". In some circumstances, leadership is not required. For example, self-motivated groups may not require a single leader and may find leaders dominating. The fact that a leader is not always required proves that leadership is just an asset and is not essential.

“Organizational Management and Leadership” defines planning as “the development of goals, which leads to the development of an overall strategy for achieving those goals. Planning can be performed at all levels of an organization. Supervisors are planning when a weekly work schedule is put together for hourly staff. Top executives are planning when they define the mission statement of the company and determine how the organization can maintain its competitive advantage.”

It also forms part of good business ethics and is good practice to keep people up to date at all times when things change or need to be changed. Failing to do so can result in other peoples work plans being out of sync.

Planning: is the ability to manage the functions of an organization and take decisions that will bring good results in the present and the future, of the organization. It is the management decision-making of the goals to develop a good organization.

The objective of this paper is to explain and define the four functions of management, which are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The paper will also explain how these four functions are incorporated in the fast food franchise of Hardees and Carl Jr. restaurants. Discussed are different ways the restaurant managers practice these functions for their employees, and how employees use the functions themselves. Leading is defined and having to influence the people in the team to get the job done, molding the company and managing conflict and team communications

Every manager must have a set of principles, values, and core beliefs that he must follow. These principles, values, and beliefs make up his philosophy of management.
