Conant, Thomas Jefferson. An American Baptist divine and Biblical scholar; born at Brandon, VT, Dec. 13, 1802; died at Brooklyn, NY, April 30, 1891. He translated Gesenius’s Hebrew Grammar (1839), and published annotated versions of ‘Job’ (1857); ‘Matthew’ (1860); ‘The Book of Proverbs’; ‘Isaiah’; ‘Historical Books of the Old Testament from Joshua to Second Kings’; etc.
