Dilke, Sir Charles Wentworth. An English publicist and critical and political writer; born in London, Sept. 4, 1843; died in London, Jan. 26, 1911. A brilliant but checkered political career was varied by literary work: ‘Greater Britain’ (1868), a record of travel in the English colonies; ‘Problems of Great Britain’ (1890); ‘The British Army’; and ‘Imperial Defense.’
