Dorsey, Sarah Anne. An American prose-writer; born in Natchez, MS, Feb. 16, 1829; died in New Orleans, LA, July 4, 1879. She was a linguist and a student of Sanskrit. Included in her writings are: ‘Lucia Dare’ (1867); ‘Panola, a Tale of Louisiana’ (1877); ‘Atalie’; and ‘Agnes Graham.’ She was amanuensis to Jefferson Davis in the preparation of his ‘Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government.’
