Robert Laird Collier (1837–1890)

Collier, Robert Laird. An American Unitarian clergyman, religious writer, and essayist; born at Salisbury, MD, 1837; died in 1890. Starting in life as an itinerant Methodist preacher, he held prominent Unitarian pulpits in Chicago and Boston, and became noted as a preacher and lecturer. In later life he was London correspondent of the New York Herald. Besides religious writings, he published: ‘Henry Irving, a Sketch and a Criticism’; ‘English Home Life’ (1885).
