Robert Collyer (18231912)
Collyer, Robert. An American clergyman and prose-writer; born in Keighley, Yorkshire, England, Dec. 8, 1823; died at New York, Nov. 30, 1912. He began life as a blacksmith; and became pastor of the Church of the Messiah, New York, in 1879. Included in his publications are: ‘Nature and Life’ (1866); ‘The Life that Now Is’ (1871); ‘A History of the Town and Parish of Ilkley’ (England, 1886, written in connection with Horsefall Turner) and ‘Lectures to Young Men and Women’; ‘Things New and Old.’
