Avdeev, Mikhail Vasilyevich (äv-dyä’yef). A Russian novelist (1821–76), whose first effort was ‘Tamarin’ (1852), a trilogy; and whose second novel, ‘The Cliff’ (1862), created a great sensation, its theme being free love.
