Jacques Salbigoton Quesné (1778–1859)
Quesné, Jacques Salbigoton (kā-nā’). A French man of letters; born, at Pavilly, Jan. 1, 1778; died on June 13, 1859. He studied with a notary, went to sea for a short time, then served in the army, but after 1,800 devoted himself to literary pursuits, although for some years he held an inspectorship. He produced many works, the most important of which was ‘Confessions of J. S. Quesné’ (1828), an intimate autobiography.
