Harry Thurston Peck (1856–1914)

Peck, Harry Thurston. An American scholar and literary critic; born at Stamford, CT, Nov. 24, 1856; died there, March 23, 1914. He was professor of Latin in Columbia University and editor of the Bookman. Among his works are: ‘The Semitic Theory of Creation’ (1886); ‘Suetonius’ (1889); ‘Latin Pronunciation’ (1890); ‘Dictionary of Classical Antiquities and Literature’; ‘Twenty Years of the Republic’; ‘Studies in Several Literatures’; ‘The New Baedeker.’
