Geōrgios Chortatzēs (fl. 16001637)
Chortatzēs, Geōrgios (kor-täts’ēs). A modern Greek dramatic poet, who seems to have been a native of Crete and to have flourished about 1620. His tragedy of ‘Erophile’ (1637), the first play written in the new or modern Greek, is an imitation of Giraldi’s ‘Orbecche.’
