Eduard Duller (1809–1853)

Duller, Eduard (döl’ler). A German poet and historian (1809–53); born at Vienna. His drama ‘Master Pilgram’ was produced with success at seventeen, and followed by ‘The Swan Song of Revenge,’ a tragedy (1834). The lyric poem ‘Prince of Love’ (1842), and the volume of ‘Collected Poems’ (1845), are his least polemic and literarily best works. His novels are pompous. He wrote a ‘History of the German People’ and a ‘History of the Jesuits.’
