Cleanthes (331–232 B.C.)

Cleanthes (klē-an’thēz). A Greek philosopher; born at Assos, 331 B.C.; died 232 B.C. He was a disciple of Zeno, the Stoic. His works are lost, with the exception of a ‘Hymn to Zeus’ and some few fragments. (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
