It is important to learn and utilize proper APA formatting of in-text citations and references because it gives credit to the sources you used to complete your research.
As a student and a person in general, I don't know everything. So, to make my research paper or essay credible, I use sources from someone who knows what they're talking about to make my research credible and accurate. If I don't cite sources, It would be plagiarism because I used someone else's words as my own. Plagiarism is unethical and possibly a crime. That is why it is important to use proper APA formatting for in-text citations and references.

Alan, many people don't know that when you paraphrase,
A strategy I will use to ensure that I have properly cited my sources will be to utilize me resource table that I enter all used resources. This allows me to access these resources easily, ensure I have the proper APA format, and

It is important to cite evidence. The best form of evidence is Explicit Textual Evidence which means it is direct, from the text and it supports your answer. Citing with this type of evidence to support any idea you may come up with about a text allows the reader to trust what you are stating. If can back up an opinion about a text with explicit textual evidence, then you will be taken more seriously than if you gave a “just because” reason.

The APA writing style is most commonly used to cite sources for psychology, education, and social sciences and is also the official writing style of the American Psychological Association. The General APA Organizational Guidelines are basic guidelines that explain how to write a research paper in the APA format. These guidelines ensure clear and consistent presentation of written material that differentiates from other writing styles because it concerns elements such as: Citations, punctuation, presentation of numbers, etc
It is good to know the difference between these two types of citing styles especially in college. There are not huge differences but you still need to know them. I have taken many different types of classes ranging from biology, sociology, psychology, english, and a variety of other humanities classes. In each class I have written two or more papers where I have had to use both APA and MLA formatting. You need to know both styles because depending on the teacher or professor you may have to use either one. This project
All of the research paper must have reliable sources to prove the thesis that the writer stated in the essay. Why should we use credible sources when writing a research paper? A research paper is like a jury trial. If you’re an attorney trying to convince the jury your client is innocent, you need hard evidence. For example: When you try to convince a jury that your client is innocent by telling them he wasn 't at the crime scene, and you can prove it because his best friend said he wasn 't there. It isn 't going to work. Now conversely, when you try to convince the jury that your client is innocent because he was out of town when the crime happened. You have a hotel receipt, plane tickets, and video evidence that he was nowhere near the area at the time of the offense. That evidence is much more credible and convincing. Writing a research paper is contrasted with the jury trial, we need strong evidence to support our statement.
By incorporating valid sources my essay would be able to come to life while giving the reader solid evidence of what I was trying to say. Having direct quotes and paraphrasing professionals that have done research strengthen my side of the argument. The only challenge that came into play was where and how to incorporate my sources. You don’t want to just drop a quote anywhere. You want to make sure that it flows with your own words and you’re able to show it proves a
• APA style requires two elements for citing outside sources: parenthetical (in-text) references, and a reference list. Together, these elements allow your reader access to the sources you consulted.
By putting the information from your research into your own words, you can show that you have a deeper knowledge of the material. Furthermore, papers overloaded with quotations may distract your instructor from your own ideas and writing. Use a quotation from a source only when there is absolutely no better way to present the information. A well-written paper balances quotations and paraphrases with your own interpretation of the research.
American Psychological Association (APA) writing style exists for a reason and this reason is because writers' must give “credibility where credibility is due”(Walden Writing Center, 2015) . During my BSW program I learned this and also, the importance of integrity in college level writing. In my opinion, two aspects of APA that I think will not challenge me are direct quotations and listing references. I have to admit I prefer to quote intellecutual matter directly rather than, use paraphazing. I believe this is approriate to do if the quote you utilize is short and all of your agrguments regarding, the content of the quote, are your own ideas. Another thing that will come easily to me is listing my references. This comes easily to me because during my undergraduate education, I excelled in this area. The reason for this is because everytime I wrote a reference page I always refered to my courses APA manual.
In addition to spacing, APA style includes a special way of citing resource articles. See the APA manual for specifics regarding in-text citations. The APA manual also discusses the desired tone of writing, grammar, punctuation, formatting for numbers, and a variety of other important topics. Although the APA style rules are used in this template, the purpose of the template is only to demonstrate spacing and the general parts of the paper. The student will need to refer to the APA manual for other format directions. GCU has prepared an APA Style Guide available in the Student Writing Center for additional help in correctly formatting according to APA
