When Pam returns to the group from her retreat, the mood immediately becomes darker when she sees Philip in her “cozy” group. She does not feel comfortable having him in the group because he had caused her so much pain in the past. Julius found it hard to find “forgiveness” for Philip, but he tried to identify with him to try to understand why he would have done the things he did. Tony sided with Pam and questioned some of Philip’s statements, whereas Rebecca defended Philip against Tony’s “attacks”. Stuart also seemed to protect Philip against Tony’s attacks. Phil changes after convincing Rita that he is reliving the same day and she tells him to make the most of it. He starts allowing reason and character to weigh in on his appetites, thus following the path to Ultimate Happiness. By listening to these sides of his soul, Phil begins to show both Moral and Intellectual virtues. His moral virtue increases as he begins helping the townspeople including: a boy falling from a tree, old ladies with a flat tire, a homeless man, and a man who is choking. Although Nerburn and Dan are complete strangers at first, Dan has an understanding of Nerburn because of his ability to observe him. While Nerburn doesn’t learn much about Dan unless it is said. Nerburn’s understanding of Dan doesn’t start forming until later in the book because of how he likes to keep the upper hand, but when Nerburn learned more about Dan from his granddaughter, he began to develop a whole new understanding of Dan.

In response to Question 9, the most remarkable thing I thought was how Louie and Phil were able to keep a positive mindset throughout the whole situation. Even after losing most of their crew, eating raw animals, and surviving a Japanese bomber, they somehow kept their heads up and didn’t give up hope. If you were to take someone in today’s society, granted that our society is much more different, and put them into Louie and Phil’s position, I guarantee you that most, if not all of them will lose their minds within the first few days, if not hours. The strength to keep going day after day is just phenomenal.

Phil is not a stereotypical man in a leader position. His appearance does not give you a sense of being secure. His body type is far from what you would see as a superhero. According to Charlotte Jirousek, most muscular men could not come close to this superhero image. These fitness types bare resemblance to Greek people, with sleek lines throughout the body and limited definition. Few men could be this body type, except for a few body builders and maybe some football players (Jirousek 235). His body type is very frail, especially for the amount of masculinity he has. Phil is probably one of the strongest characters in the entire series, but he never gives it off that he is. Phil also listens to the people surrounding him, which tears down the stereotype of men being stubborn. Phil also has a strong connection to his emotional self, showing many times throughout the episode that he was making decisions for May and himself, and not basing his decision on the analytics. He does have a penchant of making too many rash decisions. This enforces a stereotype on men that men tend to make decisions before they think about it. Almost everyone has heard the saying, “The straw that broke the camel's back.” It means the amount of conflict someone carries pushes down on them until the final one forces them to reach their breaking point. Dana has to

Dan tries to negotiate with Coach Garriek on when he can come back. Coach Garriek wants Dan to come back but he cannot because of his leg. “Dan, I talked to your doctors, you will never do this again.” After the coach said that Dan stormed off. He goes into the trophy room and stands there and stares at the trophies.

Phil is a literal ray of sunshine. Phil never stops smiling. The only time he is not smiling he is joking with his roommate and pretending to be serious, or he is concentrating on something. I learned to look at the bright side of things and put the negative behind me. Phil never pulls away first in a hug because he thinks you might need the hug. In Phil’s video called ‘A Day in the Life of Dan and Phil in London’ Phil and Dan were making stir fry but they didn’t have soy sauce, so Dan made Phil go to the store to buy soy sauce, the store didn’t have any soy sauce and he was to awkward to leave without buying anything so he bought a kinder egg.

Everyone is looking to get something out of life. Phil wants to get stardom out of life; he wants, like most people, to become someone that people look up to, but he does not realize that people do not always look up to weather reporters. Phil is also very rude and centered on himself. Every time he talks he points to how great he is. He also needs other people to fail so that he looks good. His sense of success is based externally on how good he is compared to others.

Something like that is not the most pleasant thing in the world for Dan. Not only that, but it also creates a very awkward situation for him knowing that his daughter is sleeping with his boss. After finding out that they were secretly together, there was personal conflict between the two, like the scene where Dan punched Carter in the face. The confrontation also lead to the breakup of Carter and Dan’s daughter’s relationship, causing Carter to feel heartbroken. As a result, Dan punching his boss goes against work ethics and they both did not respect each other as either an employee or a
