Tubing “Good afternoon Camp Newaygo” Kori yelled so the whole room of girls could hear. “Good afternoon Kori” we all replied, “We have some announcements today. Tubing! From Cabin 2 we have Jos, sarah, and Emily going at 1:15. From Cabin 7 we have Pier, Georgia, Kira, and Evelyn at 1:40, and lastly we have Piper, Erica, and Julia from cabin 3. Time to Clean!”, “We were starved as starved could be and now we’ve had enough you see, hi ho, hi ho, hi ho, away away we go away we go till next meal” everyone sang. We sing after every meal, because well its camp. Chaos of everyone cleaning the dishes began. As Anya cleaned the dishes with a sponge I ran over to Evelyn, “Can you help me sweep the floor? I asked “Sure”. We walked over to the closet …show more content…
I grabbed the broom lying against the wall. I started to sweep under the table and into the dustpan. “ Ok I think we’re done.”, “Ok”. I saw that there wasn’t much left to do, so I just started grabbing the plates and cups that were clean. “You’re my bubby” I said grabbing Evelyn by the arm so she would follow me. “I can’t wait until we get to go tubing!”, “Me too”. We took the clean dishes to the ledge and walked back to our table. “Who is tubing?” Cecilia one of our camp counselors asked “ We are” I said speaking for evelyn. “So am I” Georgia and Pier added. “Okay, let’s get you girls changed” We walked out of the dining hall and went back to our cabin. We were out in just a couple minutes, and ready to go tubing. As we walked to the waterfront stairs, we passed the red chairs and hammocks. Our excitement grew. We walked down all 70 steps to get down to the waterfront. As we reached the sand I took off my water shoes and felt the soft sand touch my feet. “Ok Emma is going to wait here with you while I check how long you have to wait until it’s your turn to tube. Emma is the cabin 9 …show more content…
But time flew by very fast and soon we had our lifejackets on and ready to go tubing! “Yay! Finally!” I whispered to Evelyn. “You’re going to go tubing for the first time, so exciting!”. We walked to the end of the dock where the speedboat was and the guy driving the boat started asking questions. “So how many of you have gone tubing?” our boat driver asked. “I have” Pier said, “So have I” Georgia added. “She’s the only one of us who hasn’t gone tubing” I replied pointing to Evelyn. “Ok so everyone here is experts except for you, huh”, “Yup”, “Ok sounds good”. I smiled at Evelyn and she smiled back. “So who’s going with who?” the man asked, “We’re going together” I said grabbing her closer to me so he would know for sure that we were going together. “Ok, you two on this tube’ the boat driver said pointing to the left ‘And you two over here”. We got onto our tubes and he showed us the signals in case of an emergency. And off we went. “Hold on tight, Evey” I said, and smiled. I held on with one hand so I could reach down and touch the water. The deep blue water was sparkling in the sun. The cold water brushed my hand as I dipped my fingertips in. It almost felt like were flying on
Most people are all grown up when they finally figure out what they want to do with their life. I was 4. I realized what I wanted to be when I attended my very first Rodeo. Even though it was so long ago I can remember that day like it was yesturday. That day got me on the path to my future.
The skin on the bottom of my feet clenched the foam surfboard as the Colorado water chilled my spine. The sound of the music from the sapphire blue Malibu Wake Surf edition blared as my ear drums rattled. The teal water seemed to stare back at me with suspense. “Tell me when you’re ready!” someone barked out from inside the boat. Still astounded by the beauty of Navajo Lake being a place where I’ve been before but I have never really noticed the beauty until now. I poked my eyes up from neon green surfboard to the person on the boat and gave them a relieved thumbs up. The engine roared, my heart raced, the nose of the surfboard went up, no regrets.
One warm summer morning my sister, dad, and I were sitting and watching T.V. and my best friend’s dad called and invited us over for the weekend. He said
I was frantically mowing through the pile of life jackets trying to find one that fit me. I reacher for a red one with gray fringing the edge and swung it around my shoulders. To my surprise it fit! My younger cousin came strolling over over looked at the life jacket I had on and came rushing over. His name is Zane, he had bright red hair that was naturally curly, and stood no taller than my chest. He pointed at the life jacket I was wearing and stated that it was his. I reluctantly took it off and gave it to him. Once again I was jacketless. I picked up a yellow, black, and red one but it was to big. I picked up an all red one, to SMALL!! Suddenly my Uncle Mark is by me
Embers flew from the campfire, and into the starry night sky; meanwhile, the campers, Jackie, Carl, and Jim, sat close to it for warmth. “Now who's ready for a campfire story?” said Jackie. “You can sometimes go a little overboard, so Carl is taking the wheel.” Carl continued, “Once upon a time” Jim screams, and Carl rolls his eyes at Jim, “May I proceed,” He responds rhetorically. By the time Carl finishes the scary story, Jim has already dashed into the tent, startling his dog, a basset hound named Roxy. Carl along with Jackie look at each other in regretful worry, as they walk towards Jim's tent.
Saturday night her girls were acting even crazier than usual. They seemed to bounce of the walls of the cabin, and she was relieved when the bell rang for the campfire line call. She gathered her but they could not stand still, and by the time they
When I got fired from my job over the summer I realized there wasn't a lot to do. I was bored. This led to me exploring the woods around my house.I found lots of things, old oil cans, empty budweisers, and coyote traps, but the biggest thing I found was a trailer.
A young girl shook nervously at the sight of the wide tides of her family's privately owned ocean side. She herself had lived in this familiar place for over eleven years... Why was she so scared to do this? She sighed underneath her shaky breath and made her way towards the waves, dragging her surfboard closely with her. When she reached the area she was greeted by her father, A strong but yet still a goofy professional surfer. When he saw his daughter has finally pushed back her peers, he smiled and walked towards her. "How ya doin' pumpkin?" she stared at him with glassy eyes before replying."I'm fine, I guess." her voice was dry. The man simply shook his head and bent down towards her. "Amber." He said with a serious tone, "I want you to go out and surf like you mean it... Just
I am a piece of clay, just as every person is. We are not just any kind of clay, though, we’re that special molding clay that never dries out. Because of this, we are constantly molded by almost everyone and everything surrounding our lives. At the beginning of life, we are molded by the hands of loving parents, but once we leave that safe-place, we are on our own. At that point, we can be tossed, slammed, poked at, and sometimes even ripped apart. One important event in my life that molded me and has helped make me the person I am today was my first roller coaster ride. Amusement rides don’t usually change a person’s life, but the first time I went on a roller coaster, I found myself stepping off the ride as an entirely different person. Most people conquer their fear of heights or fast-moving vehicles on thrill rides, but instead, I conquered the one thing most people are terrified to face. Something that’s more horrific than monsters and demons, and that is yourself. For me, the ride was more of a journey than anything. From the beginning to the end, I learned a
Not only did our house burn down but this is the last time I can remember my
My dragster ended up taking a different shape and look than what I pictured because of my poor time management skills. My car had a race time of 1.409, which was not the best or the worst. I had a design that I thought would help accelerate the car by being very aerodynamic and low to the track. I wanted the back of my car to be rounded and lower in the back that gradually came into small bump towards the front that led into a point. My dragster ended up thicker, higher, and less rounded in the back. The middle gradually descended into a small hill that led into a point in the front. Once I completed sanding and painting my dragster, it weighed 74 grams when it needed to be 70 grams or below. I had to sand off at least 4 grams after I already
Halfway to the water I started screaming. Why was I jumping off the high dive when I could not swim. When I hit the water I realized that my uncle Bobby was going to grab me when i hit the water.
I sit with you on your boat, basking in the warmth June always brings. We’re with our friends, blasting music as we travel aimlessly around the small lake, creating wavy ripples in our wake. I can’t stop thinking about Jen and how she refused to come, according to Marie. I can't understand why she is so angry with me; they’d dated so long ago. I stand up and head to the other side of the boat, opening the small door that leads to the edge. I think about jumping into the green tinted water of the lake, but can’t seem to get my legs to agree with my mind. I hear you open the small door behind me and join me.
The fan spun so quickly that it caused a whisking hiss. The sun beating through the slanted window heating the room to eighty degrees. We spoke loudly over the fan, sitting together side by side, on two scorching hot sticky leather chairs, at my black glass desk against the wall of my room. Wearing her favorite pair of jeans and a new grey shirt, Maddie bought earlier that day, she sat up straight. You could tell by the tone of her voice, she felt confident, because she knew a lot about the sport because she has been riding for a long time.
“Hey Caitlin! Can you get that bottle from upstairs?” dad shouted. I ran as quickly as my little six year old speed could allow up to the baby’s new room. I grabbed the bottle and ran downstairs. Me and my sister were waiting near the front door, but not outside, it was raining and thundering. My sister Mady tried to open the door, but dad caught her. “No going outside, there is going to be a long storm, probably for three or four days.” he said nervously. “Once mommy and Josie comes home, I’ll be working on the electricity at work for a couple of days.” “So we won’t see you?” Mady asked while backing up and on the edge of tears. “Yes.” he replied unfortunately. “Great” I thought, “I’ll have to help with and Josie.”
