I am interested in taking Honors English 10 because, I thoroughly enjoy reading in my free time and English is my favorite subject. I have a strong passion for writing and I would like to continue my writing at a more rigorous level. Reading and writing are both very significant to me and I believe Honors English 10 will help me explore both of these interests more in depth. I find it important to be challenged and I would very much enjoy being a part of the Honors English program. Knowing that the Honors program entails a heavier and harder workload, I would manage this by completing assignments when assigned, rather than right before the due date. To ensure a lack of procrastination, I would make sure to always record assignments in my
There are several reasons why I decided to take Honors English, but I'll start with the one that is the most important to me, and that is college. College is something that is very important to me, and I want to be prepared for it. When I graduate I plan to attend a school out of state or preferably study abroad, possibly Germany. Unfortunately universities tend to be very expensive, especially if it is not in the state you live in. In order for me to be accepted into a top school I will need scholarships, good grades, and an impressive transcript. By taking this honors English course I hope to increase my chances at achieving my goals.
Being in honors English for my freshman year of high school would be a great opportunity to further my growth.. English is a vital, branching off of every core subjects such as Math, Science and Social Studies.Throughout my past education years , I have set my `expectations at a higher level, trying to have further knowledge of the subject. I feel that by being in Honors English, I will continue to challenge myself in ways I have never been offered by before. This course will place me in an atmosphere where I will be able to continue to work to my highest potential, with higher expectations from my teachers. I also believe being in honors English, will better prepare me for upcoming AP courses and my future college career. By perusing this
English has never been an easy subject for me. It is something that I've needed to work at constantly in order to achieve a grade that I am satisfied by or more likely, my parents are satisfied by. Throughout high school I have been a person who is naturally gifted in mathematics, physics and chemistry. These subjects are straightforward to me because I knew if I worked harder I would obtain a higher grade, but with English it always seemed that even if I put in more effort it wasn't a given that I’d see better results.
I’ve worked here for 5 years and for my first nomination for the Spirt of Liberty Award, I would like to nominate Leonard Jordan. He is someone that I feel embodies what this award means, which is someone who shows and includes all of the following characteristics but not limited to dedication to caring, being supportive of others, demonstration compassion, and focused on achievement.
It's funny how we have been in the same schools from elementary to high school, but it wasn't until high school when we first started talking to each other and really became friends... Or in my case became "fake friends" during our first two years of high school, that is. Crossly were hesitant to be friends in the begging but manage to continue our friendship through out high school. Anyhow, crazy how things came to be in the end, as close we have gotten and how helpful you been on bringing the best of me in school, especially when we had english class together back in freshman year in high school, believe me, if I wouldn't have chosen english nine and ten honors with you I wouldn't been as proud on my improvement in better developing my english
My students take English 101 and English 102 not because they want to but because they must. Both colleges I teach at require that all students, no matter what their majors or career objectives, pass these two courses. For many of my students, this is difficult. Some of the young guys, the police-officers-to-be, have wonderfully open faces across which play their every passing emotion, and when we start reading “Araby” or “Barn Burning,” their boredom quickly becomes apparent. They fidget; they prop their heads on their arms; they yawn and sometimes appear to grimace in pain, as though they had been tasered. Their eyes implore: How could you do this to me?
In general, there are many attributes that I believe would make me a strong candidate for the Trinity University Honor Council; however, it would take me a long while to explain all these attributes. Instead, I will talk about the main attributes that make me strong candidate for the Honor Council.
The catch to being in the Honors Program is that “to complete the Honors Program and be recognized as an Honors graduate, a student must complete at least 12 hours of Honors work with a minimum of a “B” in each Honors course” (“Honors Program”). This is a problem to many students, because by the time they learn that they can be involved in the Honors Program, they may have already completed many if not all of the courses that are available for honors. In addition, they may not feel inclined to take a class that is not required for their degree.
I feel I should be recommended for Honors English 9 because this will stay with me and I mature and move on with my life. I will rise to the challenge of harder work. Being in this honor course will allow me to prepare for my future and deal with intense situations because I will be having a heavier workload. Honors English will work at a faster pace but they will cover the material with more understanding so that I will learn beyond what they would teach in a regular course. Another reason why is that this course will help me in the future when I am applying for a university because they will know that I am capable of handling challenging course load therefore they will know that I am serious about my academics. This course will allow me to
English 101, according to Professor Wortman's syllabus, is a course that helps students "develops writing skills by focusing on strategies and techniques writers use to convey ideas, evaluate information, make a point, and participate discourse communities. Emphasizes both the process and the product of writing" (Wortman). I, as a student in English 101 Class, know better than anyone else that in order to earn an A, a student should come to class, actively participate in-class activities, complete the work that assigned and follow the professor's instructions as well as being respectful towards the professors and the students. Even though, I am currently having an A in this class, I am aware that I might not be able to maintain the grade that
This years goal of mine is to get A, B honor roll this semester. Honors class is a class where the hardest stuff is. I want it because it could show me that I am brilliant. It can get me a good job in life. It could also make my parents very happy and show them I am intelligent . I never got honors class.

I plan on ensuring that I will satisfy all future University Honors requirements by being more diligent about putting honors events into my calendar and making time for them. I believe that after this quarter I will not have the same problems because I know how to do my job and I am familiar with the course load now that I have taken my first quarter of organic chemistry, biology, and physics together. This quarter has also made me realize that I can benefit from attending counseling at Counseling and Psychological Services so that I can manage my stress better. It has also taught me that I need to be more adaptable with my approach to time management than I was in the past and that there is a better way to balance my life and achieve the grades
The purpose of graduation 101 is for Student's with 45 hours or more to Learn about meeting Graduation Requirements, how to utilize the student's Program of Study on Econnect and to Plan out their final semester: In addition graduation 101 wanted the student to be conscience of the graduation requirements, 2.0 GPA: 25% of Classes at Eastfield College ect. Of all the choices that the California State University of Fresno offered, I decided to enroll myself in English 10. My decision was based on my high school experience. I always challenged myself to take rigorous and challenging courses. In high school, whether it was a gate, honors, or AP courses, I always took up the challenge and gave it all my best. I had excelled in my English course in high school, however, I do understand that high school writing will massively differ from college writing. In addition, my decision was also based upon my recent participation in the English 10 course over the summer offered by the HCOP program for incoming freshmen experience.
