Purpose: The state of Texas is preparing for storm season and has made a data request to the SNHU Data Analytics team. The information they have requested caters to three key audiences each of which has specific levels of understanding when it comes to storm data and information and will need the data presented in a way that is consumable for each audience. This document will outline the data requirements and platform for each audience and how it will help them stay informed about Texas storm events. Texas State Budget Office Platform: Executive slide deck using Microsoft PowerPoint Platform Justification: The state budget office requires an executive slide deck that provides location data throughout the state and an overview of total cost expenditures related to storm damage. The budget office's goal is to establish a monetary reserve and to allocate standby emergency resources in areas where they are needed most. A PowerPoint presentation provides the right mix of high-level and granular data to make data-driven decisions. Instead of forcing the budget office to sift through data via an interactive dashboard, the presentation will use a right-size approach for their specific needs. The presentation will provide historical spending based on storm-related events. Location data on what areas throughout the state have been most impacted in the past. Recommendations on what areas would provide a strategic advantage for emergency response resource allocation. These sections provide the key information needed for the budget office to forecast their response to future storm events. Texas State’s Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) Group Platform: Interactive Dashboard using Tableau

Platform Justification: The Texas TEMA Group has a wide spectrum of data needs that require real-time updating as well as historical data for forecasting how they will respond to storm- related events. An interactive Tableau dashboard provides a multi-purpose approach to evaluating storm data that will meet the needs of the TEMA group allowing them to analyze storm damage to assess risk, allocate standby equipment and resources to respond to storm events, and give real-time updates to media outlets for areas impacted by storms. The interactive dashboard will provide historical data on areas that have seen the most amount of impact and by what types of storm events. This section of the dashboard provides the opportunity to assess risk based on past data and forecast which areas are likely to see future events. A heat map highlighting which areas have seen a multitude of storm-related events provides insight into who is likely to need rapid response of standby equipment as well as areas that would be safe to store the equipment for rapid deployment. A real-time storm map provides the TEMA group with the resources they need to respond quickly to storms and provide media outlets the information they need to update the general public on areas impacted by storm events. An interactive dashboard provides the TEMA group with exactly what they need to respond to a plethora of requests. Texas General Public Platform: Pamphlet using Canva Platform Justification: In an effort to prepare the Texas general public for the storm-related events they might encounter a pamphlet provides an easy-to-use resource that can be downloaded and kept on hand for quick reference. The pamphlet will highlight the need to be prepared and provide information on what they should be prepared for. The audience for this pamphlet can range from small children being given the pamphlet at school to the elderly community preparing themselves for the upcoming storm season.
